About the Project

Byapon (ব্যাপন) is one of Bangladesh’s most beloved youth science magazines, and I had the incredible honor of developing their digital platform. This project wasn’t just a development task for me — it was a passion project. Being able to contribute to a platform that nurtures young scientific minds in Bangladesh felt deeply meaningful. I learned so much while building this project, and it’s an experience I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

The Challenge

Byapon needed a complete digital transformation. The existing platform was outdated and couldn’t handle the growing community of young science enthusiasts. They needed:

  • A modern, responsive platform that works seamlessly on all devices
  • Easy content management for publishing science articles
  • Event management for science festivals and workshops
  • A Q&A section where curious minds can ask science questions
  • Multi-category content organization (Physics, Biology, Astronomy, Technology, etc.)

Key Features I Built

Content Management System

A robust CMS that allows the Byapon team to publish articles across multiple categories including Physics, Mathematics, Technology, Chemistry, Biology, Astronomy, Health, Environment, and Science Fiction.

Digital Magazine Store

An integrated e-commerce system where readers can purchase digital and physical copies of the bi-monthly magazine. Each issue is priced affordably (30-50 BDT) to ensure science education remains accessible.

Event Management

A dedicated section for managing and promoting science events.

Science Q&A Platform

An interactive section where young readers can ask science questions and get detailed, educational answers.

Publication Management

A comprehensive library system allowing users to access archived content and resources. One of the core features of the platform is the digital magazine store. Byapon publishes a bi-monthly science magazine that has been inspiring young minds since its inception.

Tech Stack

Backend: - PHP, Laravel

Frontend: - Blade Templates, Tailwind CSS, DaisyUI, Alpine.js, Vite

Challenges & Solutions

1. Rich Text Editor Integration (Summernote)

The Problem: Integrating Summernote WYSIWYG editor with Laravel Blade templates was one of the most frustrating challenges. The editor needed to:

  • Handle Bengali (Unicode) text properly
  • Support image uploads to the server
  • Work seamlessly with Livewire components
  • Not conflict with other JavaScript libraries

The Solution:

  • Created custom Vite aliases to resolve jQuery path issues
  • Implemented custom image upload callback with CSRF token handling
  • Added paste event handlers to clean incoming content

2. JavaScript Library Integration problems in Blade Templates

JavaScript libraries were not properly integrated into Blade templates, causing unexpected behavior and functionality issues.

Impact & Results

Since launching the new platform:

  • 10,000+ monthly active readers
  • 150 science articles published monthly
  • Multiple science events successfully promoted
  • Increased magazine subscriptions through the digital store
